Coffee is the reason we open at six. Espresso is pulled on a La Marzocco Strada, with milk steamed at the moment you order rather than earlier. The freddo cappuccino and the iced latte are what you ask for most, and almond and other plant milks are there for anyone who wants them. Every coffee comes with a 330ml bottle of water, without you having to ask.

Pastries arrive fresh each morning. The spinach and feta pastry is the one customers name in their reviews, the chocolate croissant is always first to go, and there is Thessaloniki koulouri and bougatsa for anyone who wants something simpler in the hand.

For savoury food made to order there are sandwiches and panini on bread that holds up to its filling, with smoked salmon or turkey with mango mayonnaise among the combinations we keep on permanently. Beside them sit pizza, focaccia, ham and cheese pie and plates that solve a midday without slowing you down.

For something lighter, the juices are pressed from fruit rather than concentrate, and the yoghurt bowls with granola, banana and strawberry are a fixture of the morning. So are the smoothies, which in summer start moving early.

Every coffee comes with a bottle of water. You do not have to ask for it.
